South City Kitchen (Vinings) – 1675 Cumberland Pkwy. SE, Smyrna, Ga. 30080
What’s up Atlanta? I had a chance to explore some restaurants over the Thanksgiving week and wanted to share with you. One place that stood out was South City Kitchen (Vinings), a contemporary southern cuisine restaurant. Out on a Friday night, wanting to try something different and we know there is no shortage of choices in Atlanta (what I love most about ATL). This was my second time visiting this location & I must say both times have been remarkable. First of all, I would suggest calling ahead to reserve a table, Friday and Saturday nights are very busy. The location is great, valet service is available, which is always nice. Walking in, everyone was warm & welcoming, our server was adorable and very friendly. First we ordered the she-crab soup, which was very creamy, but could have used a little more seasoning, for my taste. Next I had the shrimp and grits, and I must explain how much I love shrimp & grits! I like to explore & try different places and if shrimp & grits are on the menu, that’s what I’m ordering. (I will put together my list of my favorites soon) 🙂 . SCK shrimp & grits belong on my list, absolutely delicious, it was fantastic!
To top off my night, I ended with a pecan slab pie, served with butter pecan ice cream. OMG! Atlanta, I have never heard of a slab pie, but all I can say….this is something you must try. I would not steer you wrong, trust me. A perfect dessert for a perfect evening!
I truly enjoyed my evening at Southern City Kitchen, great food & great atmosphere. South City Kitchen has 2 other locations: Midtown & Buckhead, so if you’re looking to try something new, please do not hesitate to check them out. I will definitely return, to explore their Sunday brunch, which I’ve heard is awesome!
